Please pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Frank Kameny who died last Tuesday at the age of 86.
He will always be recognized as the first gay person to stage a gay rights protest in front of the White House and at Pentagon. Born at a time when homosexuality was considered as a disease, sin or crime, he actively fought so homosexuals will be recognized in the society.
When we talk about gay rights and gay rights protest, there is one person that comes to mind – Frank Kameny. His sacrifice may be one of the reasons why DADT has been repealed and why same-sex marriages are allowed now in some states.
It appears that he lost his job as a government astronomer in 1957 for being gay. Since then he had become a pioneer in gay rights movement.
We will forever remember your legacy, Frank Kameny.
